Village Fete

This year the village Fete will be held on SATURDAY 14th JUNE. I do hope you have already made a note in your diary, but, if not, please do so now. This has always been one of the major village family events and we aim to continue that tradition. One of the major attractions of the day is the fact that you can guarantee to see a host of villagers you havent seen for some time and have a wonderful time catching up on all the village gossip. It also helps a number of village organisations raise funds, including the church, youth groups, the Parish Hall and various local charities.

Keeping up our tradition of asking well known local people to open the Fete, we are delighted to say that Tim Dean has agreed to be our honoured guest this year. If that name does not ring a bell with you, forget the surname. Most of you will know him just as Tim, the Brent Knoll Postman. For many years his cheery smile and knowledge of everyone living locally has been a feature of the village and I am sure you will want to be there to express your thanks for the superb job he has been doing.

We anticipate having all of our regular events and stalls, but also will be having a few changes. The Brent Knoll Primary School children will be with us again doing their country dancing and we always look forward to seeing their display. The Chalice Morris Men will be providing their full program of traditional dancing and we hope that their recent recruitment drive will have augmented their numbers - we certainly would not want to lose their enthusiasm and skill. Additionally this year we have a dance troop from the Philippines, all of whom work in the locality, who will be demonstrating the varied dances from the multitude of islands comprising their country. I am assured the variety of differing styles makes for a fascinating display.

Another change will be the absence of a skittles alley (our source for the alley has now moved further away and obtaining it would be very difficult for those who have so kindly helped us in the past), but we will have an alternative to replace it - come and see what it is on the day. Most of the other regular stalls will be present, along with many of the stallholders from the monthly bazaars.

Anyone wishing to have a stall at the Fete can still contact me on (01-278) 760986, or contact any other member of the Fete Committee. We may still be able to fit a few more in somewhere!

Also, if you would like to help on the day, setting up, running stalls and/or clearing up afterwards we would be delighted to hear from you - and that includes people of any age.
