BRENT KNOLL BROWNIES
2006/07
has been really eventful for the unit with us all gaining our Crime Prevention
badge were we visited Burnham Police Station. Getting our Cyclist badge when we
learnt to repair punctures and ride our bikes safely and passing our
Communicator badge by passing on messages in sign language and with the phonetic
alphabet. Last
year we had great fun with a “Harry Potter” night where we played Quidditch,
got sorted by the Sorting hat and even cheered up Moaning Myrtle. We had so much fun we hope to meet the witches and wizards of
Hogwarts again another day. 2007
has seen us take part in the District Thinking Day Service in Highbridge and we
attended the 2nd Connie Robb Memorial Picnic.
Both of these events were particular fun as we got together with our
Guiding friends, and we have to say we really enjoyed banging the drums. We
have had fun during our meetings making Pancakes for Pancake Day, going around
the world for Thinking Day, making flowers for Mothers Day and baskets for
Easter to put our eggs in that we found on an egg hunt. During
the Summer term we learnt some country dancing with the help of the local Morris
Men and we joined with our Brownies friends from Burnham Brownies for a Masked
Ball at the end of the Summer term. We
dressed in our finest clothes and danced the night away – well half an hour or
so anyway. We paraded in our
exquisite masks and wondered who was hiding behind them! Since
coming back to meetings after the summer holidays we have been taking part in
the Right Now activities and have gained our Right to Work Together Badge. And
as we go to print with this report the unit is hard at work preparing to go on
Brownie Holiday to Brean were we are “Going to the Movies – Pirates of the
Caribbean”. This should be a fun
filled few days were we get to hunt for pieces of eight, talk like pirates and
sail the seven seas. We can’t
wait for more Brownie fun over the coming months. Kate, Ange,
Sarah, Claire, Jess and Kirsty
