NOTES FROM THE PLANNING MEETING HELD ON 24 MAY 2004

There is no report from a full meeting of the Parish Council this month as the June meeting was not due to be held until the 14th, four days after the deadline for this issue. However, a short meeting of the Parish Council was held on 24 May to consider a number of planning applications, with the following results:

Woodlands Hotel, Hill Lane: renewal of permission for the formation of 21 car parking spaces: no objections as this is a renewal of an earlier consent
Land to the rear of Croft Orchard, Burton Row: erection of agricultural building to store hay animal feed: no observations
Wicknoll House, Burton Row: installation of two dormer windows in SW elevation: to be opposed as width and bulk of the proposed windows considered to be out of scale with the building: the use of flush roof windows suggested
Brent Knoll School: additional classroom and demolition of remaining temporary classroom: no objections subject to suitable safety precautions as to access to the site
Southcroft, 148 Brent Street: replace slate roof tiles to front elevation [Listed Building application]: no observations

It should be noted, incidentally, that a decision to make "no observations" does not mean that the Council has not carefully considered the application concerned. "No observations" is the response expected by the planning department of Sedgemoor District Council if the Parish Council considers that there are no valid planning reasons to object to a proposed development but equally no valid planning reasons to support it either.

Full reports of the June and July meetings of the Parish Council will appear in the September issue, and will also be published on the Village Website.

Next Meeting: Monday 12 July 2004 in the School.
Public Session 7.15pm, meeting commences 7.30pm
