NOTES FROM THE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 6th July 2009 and 20th July

FOOTPATHS : Two Stiles near to the Cider Farm are in need of attention. The area needs to be sheep proofed in the near future. Further comments had been received regarding the new Knoll footpath and the slippery surface near to the top. I t was reported that this path was still going through a bedding in process and with the dry weather it still had some loose gravel on the surface. Some kind of warning notice was proposed.

HIGHWAYS : There was a problem again this year with the slow cutting of the verges and of particular note the exit from Wick Lane. This will be brought to the attention of the County Council.

VILLAGE GREEN : The Arnco around the parking area has been damaged and torn out of its base. A quote for the replacement and remedial work is to be sought. Councillors commented on how clean the green had been left after the recent fete and thanked the organisers for this action.

SPEEDING ISSUES: No new issues raised at this meeting except to say that as always the Parish Council keep a watching brief on all matters of road safety and speed in the village.

PUBLIC CONVENIENCES:  They are generally clean and well maintained at the present time, as reported previously some external updating is to proceed during the summer.

PLANNING :  07/09/00011 : Application to erect a Porch at Byeways no1, Brent Street. There were no observations from the Parish Council to this application.

07/09/00012 :Application to erect Summer House at Exeter House Burton Row. There were no observations from the Parish Council to this applicaton. 24/09/00010 : This is an East Brent Application discussed by the Brent Knoll Parish Council. The Parish Council has Concerns regarding access to the site and also some muddled information contained within the letter from the agents. These concerns were specifically related to flood zone and green field concerns. The Parish Council are aware that this application falls outside of its official jurisdiction but support the objection to the proposed retrospective planning application made by East Brent Parish Council.

July 20th Meeting : 07/09/00015 : To erect a silage clamp between two existing buildings on land at Wick Farm. The Parish Council decided to support this application on the grounds of an improved amenity and the need for the facility. 07/09/00016: Application to site a static caravan to be used as a touring caravan site wardens office on the site of existing building to be demolished. There were no observations made to this application. 07/09/00013 : Application to erect a two storey side extension and single storey rear extension at Croft House 4, Brent Street. No observations were made to this application.

There was unanimous approval for payments to be made for services in our village. The items were those listed on the pre meeting agenda listed on village notice boards.

MATTERS FOR CONSIDERATION:

Village Recreational Facility : This is an ongoing discussion regarding the provision of a MUGA facility in our village. Discussions with the Village School are currently taking place to look at a shared facility. The School are also looking at providing a facility for its pupils on land that they already own at the rear of the main building. We will continue our discussions on this matter at future meetings
