NOTES FROM THE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 17th August and 7th September

FOOTPATHS : It was reported that stiles near to the old Post Office are in a poor state of repair these will be attended to along with one or tow others around the village. We are waiting for quotations for repairs

HIGHWAYS : There still appears to be a problem with surface water outside the old telephone exchange which has previously been reported to Bristol/ Wessex Water and will be updated again with them

VILLAGE GREEN : There is some damaged fencing and overgrown hedges that need attention. Two planters outside the Parish Hall look in a poor state and look to be in need of some fresh planting this will be raised with the Parish Hall Committee. A damaged picnic table has been removed some damage has been deliberate but it has become worn out and the timbers rotting away. This will be replaced in the near future.

SPEEDING ISSUES: No new issues raised at this meeting except to say that as always the Parish Council keep a watching brief on all matters of road safety and speed in the village.

PUBLIC CONVENIENCES:  They are generally clean and well maintained at the present time, as reported previously some external updating is ongoing

PLANNING :  07/09/00017 Application for advertisement consent and display of four illuminated signs at Acorns  Bristol Road. The Council made no observations to this application.

07/09/00019 Erection of porch to the north east elevation at Kara 149, Brent Street. The Council made no observations to this application.

07/09/00020 :Erection of a two storey side extension to include garage and part two storey and part single storey extension to the rear elevation with the existing garage to be demolished. The council objected to this application on the grounds of privacy to surrounding properties and the impact by overshadowing and overlooking. There is also a concern about the depth of the extension.

07/09/00018 This application was considered at the 17th August provisional meeting. To erect a 1.1m high stone wall to southern boundary and a post and rail fence to the south west and east boundaries. Also a revised location of access and car parking area. The Council objected to the stone wall due to its close proximity to bend in the road and poor visibility splay. The council made no observations to the other parts of the application.

FINANCE:

There was unanimous approval for payments to be made for services in our village. The items were those listed on the pre meeting agenda listed on village notice boards.

MATTERS FOR CONSIDERATION:

PACT Meetings : A Decision has been taken to hold pact meetings in a more local way for the future and it is hope that more people will be able to attend. The first of these will be on October 5th prior to the next full Council meeting at 6pm in the school hall.

Request to support East Brent PC For an enforcement notice on field OS1221 Following the decline of a planning application on this site to allow a static home. Brent Knoll Parish Council are not prepared to support East Brent on this request. The Parish Council are aware of an impending appeal to the planning authority decision and take the view that this appeal process must be allowed to take its course

Matters of report :  The subject of a MUGA in conjunction with the plans of the village school is an ongoing matter and will be updated when more progress is made
