NOTES FROM THE MEETING HELD ON 16 AUGUST 2004
The Parish Council does not hold a full meeting in August: however a short meeting was held to consider urgent issues only. The meeting considered proposals for the road layout at the Fox and Goose and two planning cases.
FOX AND GOOSE - NEW ROAD MARKINGS
The Parish Council endorsed (with two requested minor modifications) the proposals put forward by Somerset Highways for amendments to the road layout at the garage exit/Fox and Goose entrance and exit on the A38. These changes are designed to combat the illegal and hazardous use by some motorists of the route via the Fox and Goose car park and the garage forecourt as an "alternative" to the compulsory left turn from Harp Road at the crossroads: a practice which unfortunately continues despite the "No Entry" signs opposite the garage entrance.
PLANNING
Elm View, Middle Street: erection of two storey rear extension, partly on site of garage and stables; conversion of loft to living accommodation: to be supported as a suitable solution to the existing problem and an improvement on the status quo.
Elm Tree Farm, Burton Row: change of use and conversion of barn to holiday accommodation, alterations to access and formation of parking area: to be supported as consonant with the tourism policies in the Local Plan
