FROM THE COUNCIL MEETINGS HELD ON 14 AND 28 NOVEMBER 2005 FOOTPATHS It
was noted that some further minor stile repairs had now become necessary.
It was also agreed to ask the organisers of the “Brent Knoll Run” to
place advance warning signs on the footpaths to be used for the run in future
years, similar to the advance warnings posted on roads. HIGHWAYS
It
was agreed to report two maintenance problems in Hill Lane to Somerset Highways,
and also to ask whether (in view of its present poor condition) Wick Lane was
due for resurfacing in the near future It
was also agreed to endorse, and to pass on to British Telecom, a request from
the Speedwatch Group for consent to erect temporary signs on four telegraph
poles in the village. PLANNING

House, Battleborough Lane: crown raise to 5m one Weeping Willow Tree:

152 Brent Street: fell one sycamore tree:
no objections subject to the provision of a replacement tree Ostlers,
122 Brent Street: conversion and extension of two holiday cottages to dwelling
incorporating facilities for disabled child:
to be supported as meeting the special need and as a better solution than the
previously submitted proposals. Shrub
Farm, Burton Row: erection of bungalow [outline application]:
to be supported as achieving a reduction in traffic movements and an improvement
in landscape terms on the previously published proposals, provided dwelling in
keeping with adjoining residential uses. Land
to the SE of 1 East Ride: erection of bungalow: to
be opposed as over-development of the site, impinging on the privacy of
adjoining properties, leading to an unacceptable reduction in open space in the
area, and exacerbating parking problems. 1
East Ride: erection of single storey extension and pitched roof to garage:
to be opposed as out of scale with the existing compact bungalow, and impinging
on the privacy of adjoining properties.
Peatlands, 12 Brent Street: erection
of single storey rear extension and side garage, conversion of existing garage
to living accommodation, including front bay window, and first floor extension
above: no objections provided
a turning space for vehicles maintained within the site so that vehicles do not
have to reverse out into Brent Street. Next
