NOTES FROM THE MEETING HELD ON 13 SEPTEMBER 2004
VILLAGE GREEN
It was agreed to investigate the possibility of erecting a new fence along the boundary behind the slide as the existing fence suffers repeated damage. The swing seats and chains are in course of replacement and should have been completed well before this note appears in the "Brent Knoll News".
HIGHWAYS
The Council agreed to take up the vibration problems being caused by the poor condition of the road surface in part of Burton Row, and also to complain about the poor standard of the surface dressing work carried out in Church Lane. Arrangements were also agreed for consulting all affected residents on the possibility of making a short section of Church Lane into a one-way street (which, again, will have been done before these notes are published).
POTENTIAL SEWERAGE PROBLEMS
The Council remained unconvinced by Wessex Water’s assurances that the existing system will cope if the expansion to Sanders Garden World goes ahead and agreed to ask for further information.
SCC PASSENGER TRANSPORT STRATEGY
It was agreed to respond to a consultation document on Somerset County Council’s Passenger Transport Strategy suggesting that "park and ride" facilities for car sharing should be established near motorway junctions. The parking problems in the laybys near the Edithmead Junction clearly demonstrate the demand for such facilities.
