NOTES
FROM THE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 11 DECEMBER 2006 COUNCIL
MEMBERSHIP The
Council noted, with regret, the resignation of Cllr Humphrey due to continuing
health problems. It express its
thanks to him for his contribution and sends its best wishes for his recovery.
In view of the imminence of the next Parish Council elections (May 2007)
it was decided not to fill the resulting vacancy by co-option. PUBLIC
TOILETS Negotiations
are continuing between the Council’s Solicitors and Sedgemoor District Council
on the details of the transfer and the provisions to be incorporated into the
conveyance. The Parish Council,
naturally, wishes to have full freedom to manage the toilets as it thinks fit
once it has taken over. VILLAGE
GREEN The
Council noted that, sadly, the village lunatic fringe had been in action again
and that one of the perspex panels in the old notice board had been broken,
leaving jagged splinters still in the frame.
The old board was due for renewal in any case and was therefore removed
as soon as the damaged was noticed. A
new board has now been provided. HIGHWAYS The
Council noted that not only had Network Rail not yet repaired the long-damaged
fencing by the railway bridge, as they had promised, but that further damage had
been done by one of the vehicles employed on the recent track relaying
operation. This will be taken up
with the company. POLICING
The
Council learned that Brent Knoll now has a new Community Beat Manager in PC
Tracey Stiles, and looks forward to meeting her shortly. GRANTS
2007 The
Council decided to budget the sum of £5,000 (the same amount as last year) for
grants to local organisations etc in 2007. PLANNING
The
Council considered the Issues and Options paper issued as part of the Sedgemoor
Local Development Framework Consultation (which is basically a documents setting
out the issues and options affecting the District up to 2026) and agreed to make
a number of comments. The
Council also noted that the formal appeal has now been lodged against the
refusal of consent for the proposed Wind Farm at Inner Farm, Burnham.
This issue will be considered further at future meetings. Four
individual planning cases were also considered: Elm
Tree farm, Burton Row: erection of dwelling on site of existing annex and barn
(to be demolished) and alterations tom access:
no observations. 51
Brent Street: erection of first floor and part two storey extension to south
elevation: no observations Jasmine
Cottage, Wick Lane: erection of two stables and hay store:
no objections provided no floodlighting is provided and the facilities are for
private use only. The
Cottage, Battleborough Lane: erection of single storey front extension and
detached garage: no
observations.
Next
Meeting: Monday 8 January in the School Public
Session 7.30pm, meetings commence as soon after 7.30pm as Public Session
concludes |
