NOTES
FROM THE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 10 OCTOBER 2005 FOOTPATHS It
was noted that some minor stile repairs were necessary, and also agreed to
investigate the possibility of installing some additional dog gates to certain
stiles. VILLAGE
GREEN It
was noted that (unpleasant) evidence of dogs being taken on the Green continues
to be found on occasions: as mentioned last month, the Council would once again
ask all residents to comply with the ban on such use.
Efforts will be made to source a larger “no dogs” sign for display at
the green entrance. HIGHWAYS
Last
month the Council appealed to all residents to keep foliage cut back adjacent to
highways. The
Council’s attention has also been drawn to several instances where large
stones or boulders have been placed on highway verges, presumably in an attempt
to deter parking in the areas concerned.
Somerset Highways have asked us to advise all those affected that such
stones are illegal obstructions, and to point out that individual householders
could not be covered by their household insurance if an incident were to occur
as a result of such stones being present. The
Council also agreed to write to Somerset County Council in support of the
various letters recently written by residents asking for traffic lights to be
installed at the Fox and Goose Junction. It
was also agreed to ask Sedgemoor District Council if the times of the visits of
the road sweeping machine could occasionally be varied, as at present its visits
nearly always coincide with parents parking by the School.
