NOTES
FROM THE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 7th July HIGHWAYS
The
Council decided to contact Bristol Water re some problems close to Musk Farm
following on from recent work carried out by the authority. Some concern
expressed by the Parish Council with regard to the cutting of verges around the
Village. This matter is to be taken up with SCC. The road signage in Cedar close
needs attention as it has now become unclear and needs re painting. The same
issue also applies in Brent Street outside of Westcroft Farm. Councillors raised
a concern that vehicles being parked on verges on the A38 are causing some loss
of vision to motorists. Following on from the councils request to provide a
verge modification in Brent Street to improve safety. Letter is to be sent to SCC Highways stressing the concern of
the Parish Council and liabilities that would result in the County Council not
taking some action in support of this improvement. VILLAGE
GREEN Councillors
continue to monitor the emptying of recycling banks. Some of the picnic tables
do need additional fixing as a matter of some urgency to ensure safety. Benches
also need to treated with varnish this matter has been taken in hand by a
Councillor. SPEEDING
ISSUES Some questions raised regarding the timing of the speed check
process. The Council will be sending a letter to the Safety Cameral Partnership
to identify the most suitable times. A local resident had expressed a view that
placing gates to the entrance of the village as a way of restricting speeding
traffic. No decision on this matter would be taken in the immediate future but
an application for roundels to be re painted to ensure that all motorists see
them more clearly PUBLIC
CONVENIENCES It
was agreed that we should provide the Council with some ideas on Costs regarding
the various options open to the Parish Council with regard to the future
running, maintenance and general provision of this facility in the village. PLANNING
The
Council made no Observations on a planning application for Fishing Lake
development at Dobunni Farm at Brean Road Lympsham. With regard to an
application by Holywell Nursing Home for extensions to the north east elevation
and the replacement of flat roof with a pitched one. Also the
installation of windows. The Council objected to the proposal on the grounds of
it being intrusive to nearby properties whilst at the same time understanding
the commercial viability of the Nursing home. It was felt with some alterations
to the plans at the rear aspect the plans could be made more acceptable. The
Council made no observations for planning application to convert a garage to
living accommodation at The Hawthornes Crooked Lane. The same decision was made
in connection with plans at Orchard View Burton Row for the conversion of a
garage to hobbies room. PLAYING
