NOTES FROM THE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 6th May 2008

ANNUAL ELECTIONS:

At this meeting Chairman and vice Chairman were elected for the forthcoming year. Cllr Osborn was elected as Chairman and Cllr Ibrahim was elected to serve as vice chairman. The planning liason officers continue with Cllr Owen and Cllr Baker. The Parish footpaths panel are Cllr Mills-Roberts and Cllr Borland and Parish officer Cllr Osborn. The representative for the parish Hall is Cllr Vohra.

VILLAGE GREEN

We are delighted that the new play equipment has been completed and it just remains for one or two finishing touches to be completed by the contractors. There is a continuing concern regarding the rear of the green and the broken fencing and rubbish heap and the Council will deal with this issue as a matter of some urgency. Some security issues have been raised about the benches on the green and these will be attended to.

SPEEDING ISSUES

This subject is now a regular feature of our Parish Council Meeting. We have recently written to and received a reply from a local coach company who have agreed to take extra precautions when driving through our village and the Council monitors the ongoing situation all of the time.

PUBLIC CONVENIENCES

These now seem to be functioning normally and are open and in a clean condition. Some discussion on how this facility could be improved in the future is the subject of a further meeting of the Council.

RECYCLING BANKS

There has been some further concerns about  emptying of these areas and the Council will of course be monitoring the situation.

PLANNING

The Council made no Observations on a proposal for a rear conservatory to be erected at Croft Orchard in Burton Row. The deadline date for comment being the 15th May 2008.

PLAYING FIELD UPDATE

The Parish Council are continuing to look at opportunities to develop a suitable facility in the village and this continues on going and will update the Parish as things evolve. The village will have read the letter appertaining to these proposals but it is worth noting that funding for the project ( not the purchase of the land) is available for this project under the RLT1 grants and they will not be available indefinitely.

Next Meeting: Monday 2nd June  at the village school

Public Session 7.30pm, meeting commences as soon after 7.30pm as Public Session concludes
