NOTES FROM THE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 5th May 2009


ANNUAL ELECTIONS OF OFFICERS : The following officers of the Parish Council were elected at the meeting.  Cllr P Osborn re elected as Chairman for the forthcoming year. Cllr R Ibrahim Vice Chairman , Parish Officer Cllr P Osborn, Footpaths Panel Cllr R Mills- Roberts and Cllr M Borland. Planning liaison Cllr J Baker and Cllr J Owen Charity Trustees, Cllr B Freestone, Cllr H House and the Clerk of Brent Knoll Parish Council. Coastal Clusters representative Cllr P Osborn. The election of Parish hall representative deferred to June meeting.

 

FOOTPATHS : It was reported that a style is in a poor state of repair opposite the old post office This will be investigated by members. No other issues were raised.

 

HIGHWAYS : Some concerns expressed regarding the white lines outside the Post Office and at the entrance of Battleborough lane. A question was asked as to whether these were compulsory lines or advisory. In any event it was requested that resident should take care when leaving vehicles close to this dangerous exit.

 

VILLAGE GREEN : It was reported that the sign at the entrance to the village green needs replacement. There has been recent inspections that do some minor problems need attention prior to the Rospa report in June.

 

SPEEDING ISSUES: The clerk will investigate the frequency of speed indicator device placement in Burton Row It was felt that these devices have failed to appear on the timetable.

 

PUBLIC CONVENIENCES:  Refurbishment plans continue and they are in a good state of repair at present. The updating will continue and the Parish Council are seeking volunteers particularly with specific skills to assist this programme. Please contact the Chairman or Clerk if you can assist

 

PLANNING : 07/09/00008 The erection of agricultural building on a site at Harp Road. The Council made no observations to this application. However they did request that the exit be investigated as part of the planning application process.

 

FINANCE:

There was unanimous approval for payments to be made for services in our village. The items were those listed on the pre meeting agenda listed on village notice boards. The annual accounts were approved for the year 2008/9 prior sending to external audit.

 

MATTERS FOR CONSIDERATION:

 

Annual Parish Meeting : This was a successful meeting however numbers attending from the village were low this year. There were comments made by members of the public and noted by Parish Councillors.

 

Musk Farm Entrance: A letter has been sent to the owner of Musk Farm registering the concerns of the Parish Council regarding the footway being clear for local people to walk on the pavements and without having to move into the road.

 

Verge Modification Ongoing: Letters have been sent to the County Council Corporate Director to move the issue on to a further stage and to arrange a site meeting. Copies of the letters have been sent to County Councillor and local MP.

 

Matters of Report:  Some headway is being made to investigate the possible purchase of suitable land for a multi use games area for the village. This will be the subject of further discussions in future meetings.
