NOTES
FROM THE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 4 FEBRUARY 2008 VILLAGE
GREEN The
Council was delighted to hear that its application for grant funding for the
provision of new items of play equipment had been successful.
The contract for the supply of the equipment has now been placed and it
should be installed shortly after Easter. The
Council also agreed the terms of the grass cutting contract for 2008.
It was noted that problems with the emptying of the recycling banks
continued and Sedgemoor District Council are being pressed to resolve the issue. BRENT
CORNER NOTICE BOARD A
health and safety issue has now come to light which precludes the
erection of the Board in the position which had been previously agreed.
Following a discussion of the alternative options the Council decided
that the Board should be stored for the time being pending future developments
which might afford a potential alternative site. HIGHWAYS While
the Council welcomed the flood alleviation works which were the reason for the
proposed temporary road closures in Burton Row and Brent Street, it nevertheless
decided to raise concerns with Somerset Highways about the lack of direct
communication with directly affected residents and also the adverse impact on
local businesses resulting from the cumulative impact of the two closures. ANNUAL
PARISH MEETING The
Council reviewed the arrangements for the Annual Parish Meeting which is to be
held this year on 21 April, and agreed to invite a guest speaker from the
Sedgemoor Citizens Advice Bureau. PROPOSED
SCHOOL SOLAR ARRAY The
Council resolved to advise the School of its support for this project, which is
welcomed as an example of renewable energy which does not have adverse
repercussions on the neighbourhood. POWER

of power outages in the Village PLANNING
