The church, dedicated to St Michael, has a Norman doorway but the present nave was built in AD 1290. The pulpit dates from the 17th century. The most interesting features of the interior are the finely carved bench ends. illustrating the demise of the avaricious Abbot of Glastonbury who taxed his parishioners so heavily that he was seen to be a fox among fowl.  Unable to hang him in real life, the village carvers hung him in effigy.  These pew ends are the source of the name for the Fox and Goose Inn.

This was taken by former Brent Knoll resident Roy
Cox on a recent visit to the village.

This beautiful church is visible from many parts of the village providing a landmark. At night it is lit by spotlights which make it stand out from far away.

The school children often use the church for services, the most notable of which is probably the beautiful Christingle service before Xmas where the children are given "Christingles" which consist of an orange decorated with sweets and a candle which is lit by some very nervous governors and helpers during the service!
